Marelle Shawl

  I have wanted to try this shawl designed by Melanie Berg for a while.  Now I finally decided to give it a try with my own twist. Yarn: Woolike Simili-Laine. Light color (LC) and dark color (DC) Needle size: US 4 - 3.5 mm Yardage: about 700 yards (640 m) in light color yarn, 200 yards (320 m) in dark color yarn. Final size: 54'' (137cm) wingspan along top edge and 24'' (60cm) long at center before blocking Construction Concept: 1. The entire shawl is knitted with garter stitches. 2. This shawl increases 1 stitch at every RS, which means 1 stitch increases in every ridge. 3. I increase the stitch with YO after the first knit stitch at each RS row. 4. At WS rows, because I didn’t want to have the eyelet effect from the YO, I knitted through the back loop to avoid that. 5. Most of the shawl was knitted as an intarsia design except the checker patterns. 6. Because tight shawl edges can be annoying, I adopted a pattern on Ravelry called Simple Crescent ...
